VIRUS ALERT – CryptoLocker Ransom Virus Warning

We want your business to trade safely on the internet so we are posting this warning about the CryptoLocker Ransom Virus.

This is an especially malicious cyber-security threat which has already
caused untold damage to one of our customers’ data by encrypting it and
demanding a ransom. The virus, which has been around since September 2013, can only be fixed by paying the ransom
(and that isn’t recommended or guaranteed) or restoring from BACKUP. In this instance,
the virus has destroyed the data which cannot be recovered.

Please act NOW to
ensure your internet security is up-to-date and protect your priceless business
data.

1. Ensure
   that your data is backed up regularly.
2. Take
   EXTRA care that your anti-virus software is
   up-to-date.
3. Do
   not open any emails which you are not expecting.
4. If
   there is an attachment, do not open it!
5. Ensure
   that your data is backed up regularly. (I’ve put
   that one in twice as it’s the most important.)
