Ebay database breached – change your password

Ebay, the bidding and auction site, has made it compulsory for all users to change their login passwords after it was uncovered that a cyber-attack had compromised one of their databases.

The attack happened in February / March 2014 and targeted the database holding encrypted passwords and other non-financial data. As yet there is no evidence of any unauthorised activity Ebay Members’ accounts. However, Ebay is asking all its 145 million Members to change their passwords.

Do remember to change your password regularly when you are shopping via online stores. A strong password should be at least 8 characters long and include a combination of letters, numbers, uppercase and special symbols (if permitted).
